Meet Our President, Kelly J Shackelford

Kelly Shackelford has been President of Free Market Foundation and Chief Counsel of Liberty Legal Institute since 1997, working to protect freedoms and strengthen families for over a decade.

Shackelford has argued before the U.S. and Texas Supreme Courts and has testified before the U.S. Congress and the Texas Legislature. He was awarded the prestigious William Bentley Ball Award for Life and Religious Freedom Defense because of his leadership and pioneering work protecting religious freedom.

Shackelford has been an advisor to the White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives. He has also worked with past and current U.S. Solicitor Generals on constitutional cases, and assisted the Texas Attorney General on the Texas Ten Commandments U.S. Supreme Court case. He currently serves as an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Texas Law School teaching religious liberties (1994-2004).
