New Texas Social Studies Standards Released
The changes reflect common sense, accurate teaching of history and social studies. Until now, many of the distortions regarding the standards have happened because people have either not read the previous drafts of the standards, were not at the hearings (like we were!), or were relying on some media reports that contained incorrect information or left out critical information. However, the curriculum standards are final and when the written version of the standards are out, you can read for yourself to see how misinformation has spread! We've told you about a number of the most important issues, including Christmas, covering key American heroes, reading our founding documents and comparing and contrasting the Constitution and First Amendment to the "separation of church and state," but there's so much more than that. Read the standards on our Texas Legislative Update blog, and get more of the facts about the social studies standards at www.JustStatetheFacts.com! Teachers and professors, we need your help! Please read the standards and send your feedback to legislative@libertyinstitute.org!
